"...It is much more convenient than recording them on a DVD-R and playback with a DVD player. You can even use the computer as per-normal while your family members are streaming movies from the computer. One of the most innovative and interesting product we have ever seen. "

"...MediaMVP (Music, Video, Pictures) links the PC with the TV, converting digital media to analog so you can play files through the TV.For this review, we easily set up the network using a direct cable connection from PC to MediaMVP to TV. The device may also connect to the PC (server) via a hub, router or switch, which allows more MediaMVPs to be added for more client TVs. "

"...MediaMVP, the compact set-top device connects via Ethernet to a home LAN to locate digital photo, video and music files on a PC, decode them and then play or display them on a TV set. The Linux-based product, which includes a remote control, works with PCs and notebooks running Windows and only requires users to install software."

"... MediaMVP's TV-based user interface is among the simplest we've seen. Its main screen has four straightforward options: Video, Pictures, Music, and Settings. Folders and files are easily navigable via the remote. You can't sort MP3 tracks by ID3 tag information such as genre, but that's not much of a problem if you've organized your music into folders or playlists on your PC. One cool bonus is the MediaMVP's ability to play an MP3 song while streaming a photo slide show."

"...Overall, the device has changed my life. I mean, I’ve set the scheduler to record my favorite programs over the next few weeks and now have made up my own set of VCD for the West Wing. It’s easily able to plug in and out. Of everything that I’ve tested, it's the easiest and quickest to use."

"...what you get is an excellent product which not only offers the versatility of recording videos into multiple formats, but also other functions like Teletext and FM radio all rolled into one. All these comes with fantastic image quality and crisp sound. If you're looking for the premium quality TV tuner adapter, this could very well be what you're looking for!"
- July 2001 - Review on WinTV-PVR-PCI by Hardwarezone.com

.

"Buy the WinTV-PVR instead for its video capture features, its ability to watch TV in a window on your computer screen, and the fact that you can use the captures with other programs on your computer and as a means to create video CDs. The video quality is comparable to that of other TV tuner cards: It's reasonably clear and free of jerkiness in smaller windows...
The pluses outweigh the minuses in the end, however, and if you need TV/video capture and recording along with PVR features, you should consider this card.
[The small IR remote control] makes the Hauppauge unit a more realistic candidate for a PC-based entertainment center in your TV room."

"If you need, like me, to have the radio or TV on whilst you work then this product is going to be your best friend. If the kids want a TV, Radio and PC all in one small room then buy the Win TV Primio FM. If Teletext information is your need then buy this product now. If you just fancy the idea of making your PC multi-functional then go get a Win TV Primio FM.
Pros - Ease of use, Excellent user guide, Teletext & FM quality, Value for Money
Cons - None worth mentioning"

"The WinTV-radio card is an all around solid product. It does everything it claims to do on the box quite well.
If you have been thinking about a TV tuner for your PC this is the one I recommend, the price is good, the features are decent and it is very easy to use."

"The WinTV-GO form Hauppauge is a PCI based device that incorporates a 125-channel TV tuner with fast-text Teletext. It's installation is straightforward. When your watching a programme the Television display can be forced to be always on top and and can be scaled to any size you like, you can stretch the picture into any shape you like, as long as aspect ratio is turned off.
Unlike normal TV, the Teletext option has it's own separate application which can be invoked from the main WinTV 2000 window. This is slightly different to the Teletext function found on your home TV because it has a few useful additions up it's sleeve.
If you use Microsoft Word or Excel you can even create a DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) link between the two programs and have the data updated automatically. You could also print out your own copy the TV Times, or another button on the toolbar will reset your system clock with the time received from the current Teletext channel."

"The latest card from Hauppauge supports Dolby Pro Logic sound capabilities for PC. It allows you to watch television or listen to radio. With a simple interface the card has improved no end on previous versions and is simple to use and set up.
The television decoder allows you to set the source for either antenna or cable and to scan the available channels, logging them as you go. You can then snap shot pictures and export them into an art package
The software also allows you to push the image to full screen, turning your monitor into a television. If your not in the mood for television then simply turn over to the FM/ AM radio that is also present on the card. To add to the joy of this product it comes with a remote control so you can laze in your arm chair watching television or listening to mellow tunes."

"This is one of the few new cameras around not to connect via USB. The bundle includes Hauppauge's WinTV TV tuner and video capture card, along with a separate camera that includes a microphone. The camera is most impressive, with various controls for adjusting video settings. It's a 'real' video camera too, producing a full 25 frames per second video at standard 768x576 video resolution - just like a camcorder. As such, it absolutely wipes the floor with the USB cameras for quality and speed.... Videoconferencing is covered by Microsoft Net Meeting, and the WinTV card can also display Teletext. "
Hauppauge's WinTV Theater has a couple of unique tricks up its sleeve...its surround sound capability and the inclusion of a remote control imply that the card really turns your PC into a surrogate TV and watching TV is definitely a comfy-chair relaxed-environment pastime."
- October 1999 - Review of the Win/TV CCD-cam bundle - Recommended with 5 stars.

"With a television option, grabbing from a variety of sources is possible, and the performance of the chip is sprightly and better than the other cards in its class .... The quality was good too, and combined with the low price and the TV facility, you've got a great little package for producing smaller videos up to VHS quality.
Fitting the card is easy and the software installation is nice and smooth...Using Hauppauge's TV tuner software is pretty simple and the interface is intuitive...The Hauppauge WinTV systems is very popular, its easy to see why "

"Hauppauge, one of the leading makers of PC TV cards, has entered the mainstream market with a package comprising one of their highly successful TV tuner cards and a PAL colour camera." "Overall, the camera stands up well. The output is good from both card and camera, and the ability to use the card for teletext is a great bonus...
One of the best colour video conferencing kits available...
Hauppauges latest PCI expansion card, Theater, includes not only television tuner but also Dolby Pro-Logic and five speaker surround sound, two channel Cable FM stereo radio tuner and even a remote control."

"WinTV is the more sophisticated of the two, the key differentiating feature being Nicam stereo TV sound...
WinTV takes the business of TV on a PC several stages further; if your PC has decent speakers the stereo sound is a definite bonus, and the extra teletext facilities might come in handy if you have need for various kinds of data. However, WinTV really starts to pay off if you have any interest in creating and editing AVI clips, in which case the extra £20 will be money well spent."

"The Hauppauge suite of software - in particular the Teletext software - is the best collection of applications to be provided with any of the devices on tested here...
The WinTV viewing application offers all you need in the way of auto-tuning, still grabbing and window-resizing facilities for TV enjoyment.... the teletext application is far and away the most powerful teletext utility we saw...
The Hauppauge manual is probably the most informative of the lot, taking the form of a perfect-looking bound booklet.... offering a good basic explanation of the technology that's used by this group of hardware devices...
If you want to take full advantage of the information feeds from Teletext, then the Hauppauge cards will be your first choice on account of their powerful and exclusive Teletext software...
The most expensive of the three Hauppauge cards in this group comes with its own mini-camera - all you need is a modem or ISDN connection and you can be out there, videoconferencing with the best of them."

"Because it's an external box, you can store the MyTV/fm anywhere on your desk, and your cables won't be all crowded together into the tiny bracket space on the back of the machine...
MyTV/fm contains a hardware compressor chip that squeezes each frame of the video stream into a compact JPEG image before it is sent to the computer..."

"The video performance of the MyTV is yet another incident of a company completely impressing me with what they can accomplish given the limitations of USB... In all honesty, this had me completely astonished.
MyTV itself is a very well designed product and it's just plain cool in what it allows you to do with your USB Mac."
